H is for Hyderabad...
A new place can mean new challenges or new opportunities. Life is what you make of it. I moved to Hyderabad ten days ago. And life got busier than it had been in the last few years. Apartment hunting was a pain. But the place is fun. People speak a strange accented Hindi which is very hard to describe in English. And the city is an amazing swill of cultures and religions.
And "I have been busy" would be an understatement. Believe me, I have been trying to write this article since Day 2 in the city. I have always been averse to public transport, but the bus scenario here looks quite easy to access, especially while traveling between the different towns in the state. I am yet to give the city buses a try.
I am actually writing this article to let you guys know I am fine. The last few days have been quite harrowing actually but the last couple of days were productive, to say the least, and things started looking up. It's a good feeling to feel accomplished and important. But enough about me, how have you guys been?
I noticed that the blog got 159 page views in the last few days since I launched this domain, which means at least some of you have been reading my blogs. A few people who have been starring in my blogs have expressed concern about my portrayal of their characters. While I empathize with them and their concerns, I write for my own pleasure, and staying true to my story means the world to me.
So, Hyderabad. It has been eerily cold here the last few days and I've been told it never gets this cold here during the winters. And I've got a persistent cold that has been bothering my throat. But it could be my own fault. As lately, I've been gorging on ice creams and sweet lassi, along with biriyanis, of course.
Speaking of biriyanis, I have to mention a few places. Shah Ghouse Cafe, near Charminar was by far, the best biriyani, in quantity as well as in quality. Some honorable mentions go to Perses Gold and Paradise Cafe. I am yet to be impressed by the sweet dishes here, but then I am from the east. I have grown up eating Chena-Poda and Rasmalai, so the standards have been set pretty high from the beginning.
I have had some amazing personal experiences since I came here - I met my estranged mother and her new family. It has been an amazing introduction to a sprawling new city. A whole new beginning, in a way. I feel it is always fun to experience new things. My initial experience with my new regional team has been quite good too. Let's hope it stays that way. And some long travels await me in the coming weeks. Gonna be in Delhi in the first week of January, kinda dreading the cold. But all in a day's work.
